Set up during the XIIIè century by genovese, the citadel of Calvi raises proudly above the city offering an impregnable point of view on the marina from its majestic ramparts today. It is difficult to describe the emotion when we look at this monument since the city, by walking in his paved alleys, we discover buildings steeped in history with in particular the vestiges of the house where Christophe Colomb use to live.
While measuring these small paved alleys you will discover the facade of the cathedral St Jean-Baptiste, the oratory St Antoine or the barracks Sampiero (the previous palace of the Genovese Governors which is of use as base to parachutists' Regiment of the Foreign Legion today).
